Martin Truex Jr. dominiert und erzielt den ersten Sieg in New Hampshire
LOUDON, N.H. – Martin Truex Jr. hatte auf dem New Hampshire Motor Speedway mehr als 900 Runden geführt, ohne bei 29 vorherigen Starts auf dem 1,058-Meilen-Oval einen Sieg zu erringen. Der Fahrer des Toyota Nr. 19 von Joe Gibbs Racing ließ jedoch kaum Zweifel daran aufkommen, dass er sich im Crayon 301 mit Regenverzögerung am Montag auf der Strecke seinen ersten Sieg in seiner Karriere sicherte und 254 der 301 Runden dominierte.
Die beeindruckende Leistung war der dritte Saisonsieg des Meisters der NASCAR Cup Series 2017 – und der zweite in diesem Jahr bei einem regenbedingten Montagsrennen (ebenfalls in Dover, Delaware). Er überlebte drei Neustarts in den letzten 24 Runden und hielt am Ende einen der Lokalfavoriten, den Connecticut-Fahrer Joey Logano, mit knappen 0,394 Sekunden über die Ziellinie.
