William Byron legt in Texas spät zu, sichert sich den Platz in der Runde der letzten 8 und den 300. Sieg von Hendrick Motorsports.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Hendrick Motorsports-Fahrer William Byron übernahm bei einem Neustart sechs Runden vor Schluss die Führung und hielt sich vom Feld fern, um sich am Sonntag den Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400-Sieg an einem dampfend heißen, hochdramatischen Nachmittag der Playoffs der NASCAR Cup Series zu sichern auf dem Texas Motor Speedway.
Es ist der historische 300. Sieg für die Meisterschaftsorganisation Hendrick Motorsports – der höchste in der NASCAR-Geschichte für ein Cup-Series-Team – und für die 25-jährige Charlotte der beste und persönlich höchste sechste Saisonsieg des Jahres in der Serie gebürtiger Byron. Beim letzten Neustart kam er vom dritten Platz nach vorn, setzte sich schließlich vom Feld ab und sicherte sich mit 1,863 Sekunden einen Sieg vor Ross Chastain von Trackhouse Racing, wodurch er sich automatisch einen Platz in der Runde der letzten 8 sicherte, die in drei Wochen beginnt.
