With a win, a second place and the EuroNASCAR points’ lead, Tobias Dauenhauer (D) successfully returned from the Festival of Speed at Brands Hatch in the UK
What a successful EuroNASCAR race weekend in England for young Tobias Dauenhauer from Mörlenbach in Germany. At the 1.94 kilometres long Indy circuit of the legendary Brands Hatch race track in the UK, he dominated proceedings with a lights-to-flag victory in the 30-lap race. Dauenhauer already moved up into the lead right at the start and extended his margin further and further lap after lap. When a slight drizzle set in, his real talent became apparent. In the most difficult conditions, he temporarily increased his lead to up to 6 seconds. Racing legend Toine Hezemans (NL) was also impressed by Tobias Dauenhauer’s race speed. “When Tobias came to us last year, I immediately noticed his talent. He did well with the 450 hp strong EuroNASCAR race car straight away, a car that doesn’t have any electronic driver aids, so it is just the driver that matters here. And in today’s race, Tobias was in a class of his own,” the old racing stalwart delighted.
In the EuroNASCAR race on Saturday, Tobias Dauenhauer had already come close to winning. Eventually, he missed out by only 0.433 seconds! In the hard, but fair duel with young Indian driver Advait Deodhar, he couldn’t find a gap over the 30 laps to demote his rival from the lead. Still, the German was quite happy with his podium finish in second place.
With these two good results, Tobias Dauenhauer also took over the lead in the hard-fought 2021 EuroNASCAR 2 championship standings.
“It was simply unbelievable,” Dauenhauer said after securing the fourth EuroNASCAR 2 win of his career. “Having scored the first win of the season is great. Moreover, it is wonderful that some fans were admitted back at the track again. The MOMO Hendriks team has done a great job and gave me a fast Ford Mustang. We have shown a good pace and I am very thankful for that.”
Action in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series continues with the NASCAR GP at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic, 28 and 29 August.
