In 2019 Eric Filgueiras started for the very first time in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. He was driving the #70 Chevrolet Camaro of the German team Mishumotors. He is giving his comeback for Mishumotors in the EuroNASCAR Esport Series.

“I’m satisfied with my performance in the race, but a series of incidents led me to be positioned poorly for the final. I was hit from behind in my heat race and knocked off the track”, Eric Filgueiras said in an interview with Threewide. Due to the incident in heat 2, he had to race in the Last Chance Qualifier-race. He took his chance and finished second, which meant P32 in the final heat. “I needed to start in the back of the final where there was a lot of contact.” In the end he finished on P26.

Mirco Schultis and Eric Filgueiras first met in 2018 at Road Atlanta. The very same year Schultis asked Filgueiras to race with him in the Classic Sebring 12h. Due to that connection it is not surprising that Filgueiras is now racing for Mirco Schultis in the ENES. “I was offered by Mishumotors team owner Mirco Schultis to drive the sports series for the team, and I was fortunate enough to drive for the team in a few rounds last year. But unfortunately I don’t have any current plans in place to race in the NWES this year.”

Although he is more or less active in sim racing for a couple of years, the young American wouldn’t call himself a sim racer. “I’d had sim equipment for a few years but never have I used it as much as I am now during the Covid-19 shutdown.” Apart from the ENES Filgueiras is starting in different open-wheels series. “I think that sim racing can be a great tool for real life racing. It will help keep your concentration sharp, and keep your brain and muscle memory in shape. It’s important to remember it’s not real though.”

In the upcoming race of the ENES at Watkins Glen Filgueiras will again try his best for Mishumotors.
