With 9 victories in 13 races Henri Tuomaala was the dominant driver of the Challenger-Trophy in his first full-time season in the EuroNASCAR. In 2020 he will be racing for the austrian team DF1 Racing both in the EuroNASCAR Pro and EuroNASCAR 2 Division.
During the winter break the 31 year old Finn bought and built his own EuroNASCAR. “One’s own car is just one’s own car. And of course it gives you the opportunity to see how it’s done from the beginning to the end”, Tuomaala told Threewide. While doing the preparation himself, he was looking for a successful and experienced team to work on the car during the season.

“I am delighted to have found a new team with DF1 Racing,” said Tuomaala. “I have now gained a lot of experience in a EuroNASCAR car and DF1 Racing has been successfully involved in the NWES for a very long time. That’s why I believe that I will get a lot of help from the team to get to the top”.
Since his first season in the Finnish Legends Cars in 2010 the number 23 has become his trademark. Therefore it is no surprise that he will drive the #23 again. The initial plan was that Tuomaala competes in the EuroNASCAR Pro. For him, competing in both divisions may be helpful in the end: “I have the possibility to gain more experience, which is good as we don’t have a lot of possibilities for testing.
DF1 Racing Head of Motorsport Norbert Walchhofer said: “First let me send a big thank you to Ian Eric Wadén, who introduced the Finn Henri Tuomaala to our DF1 Racing team. We saw that there were really fast drivers from Scandinavia joining the series in the past years and it’s a great honor for us to sign the reigning 2019 NWES Challenger Trophy Champion for the 2020 season. It will be his first year racing under our DF1 Racing banner. The blue tiger Chevrolet is already waiting for him to be tamed. We are happy that Henri made the decision to benefit from our technical support and marketing activities. He will bring his brand new Chevrolet Camaro to our workshop and drive the #23 NWES beast in 2020. Henri Tuomaala will pull double duties by starting in th EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2 championship. We are looking forward to a successful long term partnership.”

The NWES will start late into the new season due to the coronavirus crisis. The races at Valencia and Brands Hatch have already been postponed. Currently EuroNASCAR is planning to start into the new season on June 20-21 at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.
