After signing the extension of his contract with the austrian team DF1 Racing and successfully passing the examination for the Master Craftsman’s Diploma in car mechanics, Justin Kunz is highly motivated concerning his promotion to the EuroNASCAR Pro division. One of his goals is the Junior Trophy.

In 2020, Justin Kunz will start into his fifth season in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. He is an integral part of the driver line-up since 2016. As most of his colleagues, he started his career in racing in a kart at the age of 13. In 2011 he joined the Motorsportclub Offenburg where he started in kart slalom. In the following year he switched over to the x30 Junior-Division of the ADAC Kart Masters. Although his height was to some extend a disadvantage in comparison to his opponents, he became Kart Cup Champion of Baden-Wurttemberg. In 2013 Kunz switched to autocross where he became rookie of the year as well as runner-up. In the following year he managed to win the title. At the end of the season he had the opportunity to take part in different tests. As a result, he had the opportunity to drive the prototype WOLF GB08 Honda in the AvD Sports Car Challenge in 2015. Due to an injury after a crash at the Salzburgring, he had to take a break and therefore lost the chance of winning the title in the division 2. Nevertheless he won the rookie challenge.

After the season 2015 Justin Kunz once again had the opportunity to do different tests. He tested a Formula 4-car, a Honda Civic FIA ETCC with Rikli Motorsport and a EuroNASCAR with CAAL Racing. The tests with CAAL paved the way for his career in the EuroNASCAR.

Although in 2018 Justin Kunz was racing both in the EuroNASCAR Pro and the EuroNASCAR 2, he paid particular attention to the EuroNASCAR 2. Therefore the 22 years old  Kunz is looking forward to the new challenge in 2020. “For me it will be a new challenge in the Pro-Division and I’m really looking forward to it! We do have a lot of great drivers in the EuroNASCAR Pro and I think we will see many great battles”, Kunz said in an interview with Threewide. “We will see where I stand. My goal is to to be among the top drivers. The Junior Trophy is definitely something I will have an eye on.”

After successfully passing the examination for the Master Craftsman’s Diploma in car mechanics, he can put his focus back on his career in the EuroNASCAR. With his job at his fathers car dealership, the races in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and his preparation classes for the Diploma, he didn’t have much spare time. “I did go to the gym after school, but I have to admit that it wasn’t as easy”, Kunz said and adds highly motivated: “Now all that is over and I’m overjoyed to have more time. I’ll do all I can to get ready for the upcoming season and then we’ll release a fresh tiger!”
