Press Release DF1 Racing

Andre Castro and Andreas Jochimsen will miss the NWES race in Croatia due to the coronavirus pandemic – Lasse Soerensen, Nicolo Rocca, Justin Kunz and Frank Riedel are with the Austrian team at the Automotodrom Grobnik

DF1 Racing will not travel with full power to the NWES race at the Automotodrom Grobnik in Croatia. Andre Castro and Andreas Jochimsen, who both compete in the EuroNASCAR 2 championship in 2020, had to cancel the race due to travel restrictions and measures against the spread of the coronavirus. Lasse Soerensen, Nicolo Rocca, Justin Kunz and debutant Frank Riedel will be hunting for points for the Austrian powerhouse.

The team had planned to compete in rounds five and six of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series 2020 with full power, but Castro and Jochimsen were forced to skip the race due to the current Corona measures. Despite this, the DF1 Racing armada will travel to Grobnik in Croatia with three Chevrolet Camaros. The race track is located near Rijeka on the Croatian Riviera and with its 4.168 kilometers and 18 corners, it is a real challenge for the drivers and teams.

DF1 Tiger Lasse Soerensen is currently the hottest iron the Austrians have in the fire. The current EuroNASCAR 2 champion secured his first EuroNASCAR PRO victory Circuit Zolder and lies in second place in the overall standings, only ten points shy of Alon Day. The Dane naturally aims to take the overall lead after the two rounds in Croatia and to extend his Junior Trophy lead.

With three top 10 results in four races, Nicolo Rocca is also still in the middle of the title fight. So far, the Italian has been impressing with his bearishly strong consistency, which he would like to top in Grobnik with the first podium of the 2020 season. Justin Kunz lies in fifth place in the Junior Trophy standings before rounds five and six. The German has achieved one strong top 10 result so far and would like to build on this success.

In the EuroNASCAR 2 championship Frank Riedel will represent the colors of the Austrian team. The German will make his debut in the second NWES league and share the car with Kunz. At Circuit Zolder Riedel, who won several titles in the Histo-Cup and is known as a real US car specialist, made his Club Challenge debut and his first important experiences at the wheel of the Chevrolet Camaro. The races of the EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2 championships will be broadcast live on DF1 Racing’s Facebook page.
