The young Belgian Simon Pilate faces a new challenge for the fifth and sixth race of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2020. As his team mate Patrick Lemarié will not be present at Automotodrom Grobnik, Pilate will compete both in the EuroNASCAR 2 and Pro.
Pilate is looking forward to the race in Croatia. “Grobnik offers a very fast track, especially in the curves. The average speed should exceed 160km/h. It’s going to blow your mind!”, Pilate said. To prepare himself for the races at Grobnik, he was actively training on the simulator. Competing in both divisions is a unique opportunity for him “It’s a real opportunity for me, because after only two rounds, I see myself moving up to the ultimate division of the EuroNASCAR! An additional visibility in the middle of the top riders of the discipline.”
After a successful weekend at Zolder with his first rookie podium in the EuroNASCAR, his goal is clear. “My priority is the EuroNASCAR 2 division, while wishing to make a good figure in the PRO division. My first Rookie podium in my last race at Zolder motivated me more than ever. The taste of champagne is addictive, and my great team and I will do our utmost to win a few more of these bottles”, Pilate said highly motivated.
After this turbulent year, Pilate is determined to continue his career in the EuroNASCAR. “My promising results from this season encourage me more and more to continue in EuroNASCAR. My priority will remain on this championship in 2021 and I am keeping an open mind for all other opportunities.”
