Marko Stipp Motorsport with solid debut at Brands Hatch
The new team around team boss Marko Stipp was strong at its ELITE 1 debut at Brands Hatch

These are new times for the good working team around Marko Stipp. After the separation from Racing-Total the racing team started in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series under the name “Marko Stipp Motorsport” for the first time. The Germans traveled to Brands Hatch with one race car driven by local heroes Ant Whorton-Eales (ELITE 1 Division) and Shaun Hollamby (ELITE 2 Division).

In the ELITE 1 Division, Marko Stipp Motorsport scored his first successes straight away: In a strong qualifying session, Whorton-Eales secured a place in Superpole. The 25-year-old drove a strong lap, which was finally enough for ninth position. “It’s a big achievement for a new team to get right into Superpole,” said Whorton-Eales.

In the first race the Briton confirmed his good form: After a strong 38-lap race he finished in eighth place. In the Junior Trophy classification it was enough for third place behind Nicolo Rocca and Gianmarco Ercoli. Marko Stipp Motorsport made it to the podium on the very first solo weekend. In the second race Whorton-Eales had to retire early after a driving mistake. The Briton battled hard with NWES record holder Ander Vilarino for fifth place.

“It was a fantastic weekend for Marko Stipp Motorsport at Brands Hatch,” said Whorton-Eales. “I’m really impressed with the team. We’ve made some changes and the car is constantly evolving. In the end we were able to keep up with the top 5 teams because of the setup. It was great for the new team to be on the podium right away. On Sunday I made a mistake when I was leading the Junior Trophy classification. That was frustrating, but that’s racing! I thank the whole team and all supporters for this great weekend”.

Shaun Hollamby, on the other hand, had a mixed weekend in the ELITE 2 Division. The experienced Briton was not able to finish one of the two races in the second EuroNASCAR league. Nevertheless he showed a promising pace. He would have deserved to grab a solid result.

Whether Marko Stipp Motorsport will start in Most on 29th and 30th June is still not decided. “We are working hard to find a suitable driver pairing for the race weekend. However, we can’t announce a line-up yet,” said team boss Stipp. Gerhard “Blacky” Schwarz was appointed the new team manager of the racing team before the race weekend.
